Scheduled to begin phasing in next month, changes in how Americans get health care are still a mystery to many, according to three polls conducted last month.

Three of the top misperceptions, according to reporting in USA Today, include cuts to Medicare benefits for seniors, decreased Medicare payments to doctors, and mandated rationing of health care.

"The level of ignorance and misinformation is sort of astounding," Humphrey Taylor, chairman of the Harris Poll, is quoted as saying. "It seems people are still reacting to the rhetoric, not the substance of what is in the bill, because they don’t actually know what is or is not in the actual legislation."
