Craig Schwimmer, MD, MPH, FACS, founder and CEO of Snoring Center USA LLC, announced the formation of Pillar Palatal LLC, and its acquisition of the Pillar Procedure business from Medtronic Inc, effective January 17, 2014. The Pillar Procedure is an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive treatment for snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
The Snoring Center—based in Dallas, with offices in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, Tex; Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, Calif; and Atlanta—is the nation’s leading provider of the Pillar Procedure. Pillar Palatal LLC will manufacture and market the Pillar Procedure to otolaryngologists across the United States.
“With the acquisition of the Pillar technology, we now have the opportunity to increase awareness of this treatment option, and to help otolaryngologists across the country incorporate it into their treatment models,” Schwimmer says in a release.
Additionally, on February 18, Pillar Palatal announced that, effective immediately, Pillar Palatal will become the exclusive United States distributor of the myTAP oral appliance, manufactured by Airway Management, for the otolaryngology physician market.
