CareCore National will manage Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s sleep diagnostic and therapy services benefit and oversee a compliance monitoring component, according to information from the company. CareCore will also facilitate a registration process for durable medical equipment suppliers and home sleep testing providers wanting to participate in the program.

The CareCore program will cover the majority of Harvard Pilgrim’s commercial members. The company will assist Harvard Pilgrim in the management of services used to diagnose and treat sleep apnea. CareCore’s services will involve prior authorization, sleep service provider registration/assessment, and PAP adherence/compliance support.

“Sleep apnea is an area of care where patients often go undiagnosed and, even when they are diagnosed, often do not adhere to treatment, which can be costly,” said Bartley Bryt, MD, MPH, EVP of product development, CareCore National. “Our program will ensure that Harvard Pilgrim’s plan members receive the diagnoses and treatment plans most appropriate to their unique medical history, which should help improve adherence to treatment.”
