Wholetones is frequency-based specifically tuned music that is designed to promote sleep and relaxation.
The latest Wholetones offering is a pre-programmed portable music player Wholetones 2Sleep. Wholetones 2Sleep contains nearly 3 hours of music (with an option to repeat all night) specifically designed to lull the listener into a deep, delta sleep, using frequency-enhanced music and precise tempos. Users can either listen through the powerful, rich speaker, or use specially designed earbuds (included).
For users who prefer to use existing players, the music is available for purchase under the “Life, Love, and Lullabies” page of Wholetones website. The music is available as a 6-disk CD set or delivered by instant mp3 download.
Wholetones was developed by music composer/engineer/producer Michael S. Tyrrell.
I received the Wholetones2Sleep order and tested it April 1, 2018. I am unable to lower the volume to a level I can tolerate.
Please advise me whether there is a solution.
I am not able to handle the high pitches as it exists.
Thank you.
Around 2 minutes into each song is the loudest it would be, so, try this… hold the forward button on a song until you hear all instruments come in. Then hold volume buttons + or – until you get to a comfortable volume, take your finger off the volume button and you should have a good baseline volume throughout.
To lower the volume push and hold the volume down button. That same button will rewind to a previous track if you push it and let go. Push and hold to turn up or down the volume on the volume up button or volume down. If you push these button quick tap like multiple times it just changes the song…. Not the volume. So push and hold the button in to change volume.
In the new version of 2Sleep, there is a separate button for volume control!
I cannot lower the volume enough to use this even doing the suggestions. I need to send it back unless there is some fix to it
Please try waiting till all the instruments have come in to adjust the volume. Then hold the minus (-) button down till you get to the desired volume.
I love the Wholetones music but the 2 Sleep speaker is much too loud. I wait until the instruments start and hold down the button, but before I can get it to a comfortable volume, it turns off. I’m quite disappointed and would like to send it back.
I am VERY impressed with the Whoketones Sleep device! When I want to sleep I put the earphones on and turn the volume down low. This is GREAT!!!! I sleep so much better now. THANKS!
I need an address to return the sleep device.. I find it totally useless. It is much to small a device to work properly especially the volume. I do not like it. Thank you. Your cd music is beautiful, small sleep device not.
I was really wanted to get this but reading the reviews about not being able to turn the volume down low enough I am really skeptical. I would definitely want the volume to be able to go very low. I know you give instructions on how to lower the volume but people said they have done that and it doesn’t work. Was wondering if you were going to change this problem in the near future
Help after charging for 4 hours lights up but no music held volume but nothing. Any suguestions what I’m doing wron
Please try clicking the M (Mode) button. Your player may be in Bluetooth mode rather than Music Play mode.
What kind of earphones do you use? Mine didn’t work.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! First of all, the audio jack does NOT work. I prefer to listen at night without bothering my husband who does not like any noise while sleeping. Secondly, it only comes with 6 pre-loaded songs – the same ones that were sent to me via e-mail when I purchased this. I did not read anywhere on the website that this device only comes with 6 songs! For the price, I thought it would have come with a lot more…. otherwise I would have just purchased the CD packages that would have been less costly. And lastly, as other purchasers have already identified, the volume does not go down low enough for bedtime listening. This costs WAY too much for what you get, and its not worth returning because I have to pay the shipping and handling which will only increase my lost expenses on this product.
I just want the songs! I don’t want the unit. And Bluetooth is more emf’s. $129 for this is crazy
The instructions are not adequate. The type is so small and minimal diGRm. Does the device light up at all when charging. I have put it in outlet but do not know if it is really charging.
The unit is charging, if you have it plugged into power. I keep mine plugged in during the day so I know I have a fully charged battery.
The instructions need to be rewritten. I almost sent it back. Once I figured it out, it worked. It gently allowed me a very restful sleep. Mine worked great with ear plugs and without. I appreciate that I can use it as a blue tooth and get beautiful quality music as well.
I cannot play with Bluetooth – still is heard
I need help! I have done everything stated in the tiny manual, light comes on but no volume. It doesn’t work. This is frustrating!
The first unit did not work and I followed the poorly written instructions. I returned it and now have a second unit with the same problems….nothing matches the instructions. I will call customer support but if no success will return for a refund. This is causing more stress than worth it!..It’s been 2 months since I ordered the 1st unit. I anticipate the issues are with the instructions as they truly are useless. The orange paper included saying Quick Start Guide is mostly accolades from satisfied customers…and is also useless.
It sounds like the SD card slipped during shipping.
To make sure the SD card is snug within the unit: Our recommendation is to use your fingernail to press the SD card lightly into the unit (it can be found in the small slot on the side of the player) and the SD card will pop back towards you. Remove the SD card completely and then reinsert it, making sure it is pushed in all the way. The music should begin to play once it is properly in place.
Instructions for the device are inadequate. Also, the device powers up with Bluetooth enabled and will not switch off. I will be returning this device

Try clicking (not holding) the “M” button. This is the “Mode” button and will switch the unit from Bluetooth Mode to your Wholetones album. If it will not switch, please make sure the SD card is snug within the unit and try clicking the “M” button again.

Wow! Thank you for reviews, I had planned to purchase this but…it seems that it needs some adjustments.
Thanks for sharing. I have trouble sleeping so I do not need additional frustration!
I just ordered. After reading reviews I’m sorry I did. Now I’m trying to cancel my order.
I thoroughly enjoy the Wholetones 2Sleep music. The device arrived in a short amount of time, it was easy to set up, and all worked perfectly. I play the music on a daily basis. In my opinion, the music is celestial! Thank you Michael.
Thank you, Pamela!
At first, the tones seemed to have a calming effect but after several weeks of trial, I became bored with them. Single notes seemed to last forever and the more I listened, the worse it got. The sound quality of the player is good but there is no timer function that turns off the player after a set amount of time. That became a problem for me as I found that after getting to sleep, the music would eventually wake me up again and then I’d really struggle to get back to sleep. That in itself was irritating but then laying there listening to the same tones and the same songs over and over again while being unable to get back to sleep was far worse than laying there in silence. Despite my mostly negative experience, I kept trying none the less and gave this Wholetones player several months of trial before I finally gave up on it as I was so very hopeful that it would eventually prove to be the solution to my long standing sleepless nights. Unfortunately, I waited too long because by the time I finally decided it wasn’t an effective solution for me, the very limited 90 day return policy had expired. Based on my experience, I can’t recommend this player or the included songs as an effective method of overcoming the inability to achieve full, restful nights of sleep. If you choose to give it a try, beware the short 90 day return policy. I think the return policy alone speaks volumes about the confidence the vendor actually has in both this product and the accompanying music.
I bought the older 2sleep. It’s small and blue. How can I tell if I’m on the 528hz track. That’s the healing track.
Thankyou
528hz is indeed a very powerful frequency, but we highly recommend you listen to ALL of the Wholetones frequencies, as they all work in harmony to promote maximum peace, relaxation, and well-being.
price too high…instructions uncler
volume control difficult
wish for tones with old hymns
a built in timer needed
would buy if above was offered
out of price range for low income seniors
app is too expensive
We are sorry to hear that Wholetones is not the right product for you. We hope you find something that benefits your overall health.
I have not purchased this, and after reading all these comments about the difficult instructions and other challenges of getting this system to do what it’s supposed to, I’m so glad I didn’t. It seems as there are a myriad of problems which the manufacturers have not been able to address.
The new 2Sleep Gen2 corrected most of the issues that are in this thread. Previous 2Sleep customers were offered a 44.4% discount to upgrade to the new player.
I can not review this sleep version as I still need to purchase it. But I do you use the original wholetones, to focus at work and to sleep. If the original wholetones work so well for me, the sleep series must be amazing. Most of the problems in this review section are regarding the speaker. Because I am a bit of an audiophile as well, I would purchase the digital version without the speaker. Then I can play on systems that work for me. I think the music and the speaker should be reviewed separately. And I love all of Michael Tyrrel’s music.
Thanks! Most of the issues mentioned have been addressed in the new 2Sleep Gen2. We offered 44.4% discount to anyone who had previously purchased the 2Sleep original player, to upgrade.
I love mine until it keeps beeping and turns itself off. Is there a solution to this problem
We are having the exact same issue and cannot find any information on how to address it.
Your’s is the first mention we have found concerning this.
Hopefully, someone will post a response with an answer.
The player starts beeping when the battery is low. You could play while plugged into power to prevent the beeping. The battery lasts from 4-6 hours.
This is Cherri, with Wholetones. We just found this page and made it a priority to answer your recent questions and concerns. Almost all of these issues I am seeing and responding to seem to be to the original 2Sleep player, which is pictured here. This player is no longer manufactured or available. With all of the feedback that we received regarding this player, we were able to make adjustments and improvements to our next generation player, The new 2Sleep Gen2!
I hope that I addressed all of your issues, however, if you still need assistance, or do not see the information you need, our customer service would be happy to help! You can reach them at 888-866-3740.
Whole tones Sleep purchased last week not working. Turns on and then goes to Bluetooth without Bluetooth switch being touched.
I bought this for my husband who has insomnia. It did not help him in the least. I am sending it back.
The music is nice. My problems with it are that if you turn it down enough to not be too loud, you don’t hear the beginning of any of the songs. The repetitive parts are annoying to both my husband and I, but I know that is part of what is supposed to help you sleep. I wanted it to work so bad. And like i said, the songs are quite nice. But we don’t sleep better. I’m surprised I haven’t heard more people complain about the fact that when you turn it off, he states at full volume; POWER OFF! Whatever you do, don’t turn it off in the middle of the night. That is a useless feature and really annoying!
