Since just 10-14 microns can result in an ill-fitting oral appliance, dentists employ myriad tactics to increase comfort for sleep apnea patients. This includes using a hand piece to refine and grind for a final fit or retaking impressions and waiting again for the lab to send back the device.
Airway Management aims to solve fitting problems chairside, with its new AccuTherm technology. When dentists submerge an AccuTherm appliance in hot water for several seconds, the liner becomes malleable. According to Airway Management, a single patient bite corrects any slight imperfections. Then the appliance is submerged in cool water to solidify the final refinements.

The tray is 3.11 mm thick. Airway Management’s DreamTAP appliance (pictured) is now available with AccuTherm.
