ResMed Corp has released its new Swift FX for Her nasal pillows system, a new mask designed specifically for female sleep apnea sufferers.
“In the past there has been a perception that women comprise a small percentage of sleep apnea sufferers, and, as such, their needs have been neglected in the market,” said Bernadette McBrearty, senior product director, ResMed Corp. “However, we’ve seen evidence of increasing numbers of female patients, and we’ve learned that they have unique therapy needs.”
The Swift FX for Her combines the flexible headgear and minimalist frame of the Swift FX with colorful headgear options and a fit range that extends to include smaller sizes. The system comes packaged with two headgear options: one in bold pink and one in light blue and gray. Also included are two pairs of soft wraps in pink and light gray, to color coordinate with the headgear choice. Soft wraps may be worn over the side supports to gently cushion the cheeks and prevent pressure or skin irritation.
In addition to customized fit and color options, the Swift FX for Her features a design that accommodates multiple hairstyles. The headgear includes additional notches at the top to fit smaller sized heads, and extra small, small, and medium cushion sizes are packaged together to minimize inventory.
