In the September 18 edition of Sleep Review’s weekly Sleep Report, we reported on a field study currently underway in which researchers are “trying to find whether a single dedicated battery can effectively supply enough power to run a mask supplying continuous positive air pressure to drivers behind the wheel.”

The study instead is being conducted on battery-powered CPAP devices to gauge whether they can be effectively used to combat sleep apnea among truck drivers.

As reported by Truckinginfo.com, with support from CPAP suppliers, battery manufacturers and a major truckload fleet, researchers are trying to find whether a single dedicated battery can effectively supply enough power to run a CPAP device while in the cab of a semi-truck tractor without idling the tractor’s engine or running down the main chassis batteries.

Sleep Review apologies for the error and any confusion it may have caused.
