The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) has issued a call for applications for a new program to study the roles of nutrition and physical activity in the development, prevention, and management of cardiovascular diseases or pulmonary diseases. One aim of the program is to understand how sleep influences diet and physical activity in relationship to cardiovascular and pulmonary health.

Applications submitted in response to the two Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) for federal assistance must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov.

Two FOAs of identical scientific scope will run in parallel, FOA PA-09-243 and FOA PA-09-244.

PA-09-244 encourages applications under the R21 grant mechanism while PA-09-243 encourages applications under the R01 grant mechanism.
