Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the largest sleep medicine events in North America, the SLEEP 2020 meeting, will go virtual for the first time.

The Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS) announced this week that the event, originally planned to take place in June in Philadelphia, will be held on August 27 – 30 as a virtual meeting. The APSS has not yet determined which sessions would be included on the program for the virtual SLEEP meeting. Attendees have the option to receive a refund or they may elect to attend the virtual event. In the near future, APSS will be sending out more detailed communications to speakers regarding their sessions.

“We will provide the same, high quality content from leading clinicians and scientists in the fields of sleep medicine and sleep and circadian research, but now it will be more accessible than ever before. Wherever you are in the world, you will be able to attend SLEEP from the comfort of your home or office while enjoying unprecedented access to both live and on-demand content,” the APSS says in a statement.

Current registrants can complete a form online before June 12, indicating their preference to convert to registration for the virtual SLEEP meeting or receive a refund. The pricing for the virtual SLEEP meeting has not yet been determined. After filling out the form, attendees will receive an email within seven business days confirming the selection. Immediate questions can be sent to [email protected] (for attendees and presenters). The APSS is planning new exhibiting and sponsorship opportunities for the virtual SLEEP meeting. While more details will be provided in the coming weeks, interested parties can contact [email protected] with immediate questions.
