Advanced Sleep Medicine Services Inc (ASMS) announces the opening of a new sleep center in San Diego. The sleep center is located at 4909 Murphy Canyon Rd, Suite 410, just off the 15 freeway in the Kearny Mesa area. This location was selected for its easy access from major freeways and secure on-site parking and after-hours access. The center has private bedrooms with bathrooms within the suite. Sleep studies will be performed 7 nights a week on adults and children over 1-year-old. This is ASMS’s third San Diego location with sleep centers in Oceanside and Mira Mesa.
ASMS has been a provider of diagnostic sleep testing and therapy services in Southern California for over 20 years. This newest sleep center was opened in response to increasing demand for sleep studies from physicians in the San Diego area including the Chula Vista, Hillcrest, Downtown, La Jolla and Kearny Mesa areas.
“Approximately 1 in 15 American adults is afflicted with moderate to severe sleep apnea which is now known to be an independent risk factor for hypertension, cardiovascular disease (ischemic heart disease and arrhythmias), cerebrovascular disease (stroke and TIAs), and other conditions such as type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, many patients remain undiagnosed. This new facility should alleviate some of the pressure on physicians in the San Diego area who are identifying patients who are at risk for this life-threatening disorder,” says Said Mostafavi, MD, FCCP, FAASM, chief medical officer of ASMS, in a release.
