Sam Edwards’ career as a professional racecar driver almost ran out of gas before it ever left the starting line.

Five years ago, the Cullman County native was just exhausted. But no matter how much he slept, he just couldn’t stay awake.

“I would sleep all week long just to work on the weekend,” Edwards said. “That was kind of devastating.”
