SleepMed, the US’s largest private sleep diagnostics provider, will launch an administrative service organization (ASO) for sleep specialists who want to expand their patient base in the evolving healthcare environment, Sleep Review has exclusively learned. The sleep medicine and sleep management services provider, which merged with home sleep testing company Watermark Medical in 2013, will call the ASO “SleepMed Net.

Currently, SleepMed has 700 sleep physicians working with more than 1,200,000 patients and more than 100 insurance payors. SleepMed Net will be a narrow network that will allow sleep professionals to join at no cost. The goal is to improve access to quality care for the millions of sleep patients affected with sleep issues including insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, and poor sleep hygiene habits, according to the company.

SleepMed Net will be an organized network focused on linking insurance providers with sleep specialists and patients who need to be treated at the local level. Membership in SleepMed Net will enable doctors to become credentialed partners of SleepMed and provide sleep services in SleepMed’s fast-growing employer network.

“SleepMed Net offers sleep specialists greater visibility at a local, community level while providing national support and visibility,” says Sean Heyniger, SleepMed CEO. “Sleep specialists and sleep lab technicians have told us they are experiencing a reduction in patient volumes as utilization management companies shift patients from sleep labs to home testing. As the national leader in sleep health initiatives, SleepMed is committed to advancing access to quality sleep care for everyone.”
