The defendant’s co-worker testified that Kalin Menlove-McGinni had fallen asleep several times while they were working at the call center that evening, reports The Salt Lake Tribune.

Less than 40 minutes after their shift ended, Menlove-McGinni was driving north on U.S. 91 when he rear-ended a Jeep driven by 42-year-old Leigh Purser, causing it to be struck by an oncoming pickup truck, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
