Dr Pegah Mashayekhi, a sleep and internal medicine specialist, pleaded during the meeting’s public comments period to delay the shut down, reports The San Diego Union Tribune.
Mashayekhi said that many Medi-Cal patients and some of those with health management organization insurance will end up traveling as far away as Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa to undergo inpatient sleep studies because closer options do not accept those types of coverage.
