DESCRIPTION:The 2021 SBSM Scientific Conference is dedicated to continually expanding the field of behavioral sleep by providing global perspectives on BSM. Our invited speakers are devoted to the changing reality and the growing body of knowledge related to promoting innovation through science that drives the future of Behavioral Sleep Medicine impacted by federal funding for sleep disorder research through professional advocacy to facilitate change. \nOVERVIEW \nThe program includes sessions devoted to the use of behavioral and cognitive approaches across the life span with specific sessions focused on children\, adolescents\, young and old adults to provide diverse content for all attendees. International BSM experts will present innovative research to diversify and expand BSM in other countries. The meeting offers a variety of different session formats to appeal to the wide range of SBSM members including daily poster data blitzes\, symposia\, workshops. The meeting continues to place an emphasis on career development and growth including sessions for networking and visiting the exhibits. Additionally\, it will provide an opportunity for trainees of all levels\, clinicians\, and population scientists to obtain a review of BSM theory and practice. A separate event\, the BSM Bootcamp is designed to give the BSM provider a case-centered approach to review BSM theory and practice. It will run through the basics for board preparation and sharpen your practice with coaching from experts. The course will provide an opportunity for information exchange and learning from behavioral sleep medicine (BSM) experts.

Chelius\, Jr.\, MD\, and the Annual Meeting Program Committee have done a fabulous job preparing the hybrid meeting\, with a live education program and content available via a virtual platform\, that will include a number of innovative features this year. We received official notification from the authorities in California and Los Angeles that large-scale medical meetings will be open for full attendance this fall. This includes both domestic and international attendees. To ensure the best safety possible for our attendees\, staff\, and local personnel\, we will be employing the services of CLEAR to manage COVID-19 precautions\, documentation\, and testing issues. Beginning with presentations focusing on necessary foundational knowledge\, content will evolve throughout the weekend to emphasize HSAT clinical application strategies\, including effective collaboration with diagnosing physicians to improve outcomes\, standardized patient education to maximize efficiencies\, and practical advice from dentists who order and administer HSATs. Interactive demonstrations of HSAT equipment will allow attendees to evaluate key differences in commercially available HSATs and familiarize themselves with the data provided on HSAT reports.
