Lize Mynhardt’s severe sleep deprivation and exhaustion resulted in hallucinations that fueled the emotions and the imagery described in her song, reports The South African.

Dare to Daydream is one of the very first songs I ever wrote,” says Mynhardt. “I recently found it as a voice note on an old iPad that I gave to my little brother for Christmas. And if I remember correctly, I actually wrote the song in the middle of the night because I woke up and couldn’t sleep again,” recalls Mynhardt.
