The Mirror reports that a woman survived after sleepwalking more than a mile from her home to the beach in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, and waking up oceanside.

Marie Lord, 39, woke up with the taste of salt and grit in her mouth and realised she was soaking wet on the beach with waves crashing around her.

Disorientated and freezing, she managed to scale some rocks away from the shoreline and shout for help.

Luckily her cries were heard by a night porter at a hotel near the beach who called 999.

Marie, who had not slept walked since she was 13, was treated for the early onset of hypothermia before she returned to her home – more than half a mile away from where she was found.
