Toronto Rehabilitation Institute will be working with BresoTec in spearheading a large-scale trucking industry-focused study of sleep apnea in Canada, says home sleep testing manufacturer iDAPTSOMNO.

The study will utilize BresoTec’s proprietary diagnostic device, BresoDx, for the home sleep testing of 1,000 truck drivers. The trial will be designed to test truck drivers who represent the general population of a Canadian trucking fleet. The purpose of this study is to collect empirical data on sleep apnea prevalence and its impact in order to determine the prevalence of sleep apnea in the Canadian trucking industry. Results from this objective study would then be evaluated to determine the severity of sleep apnea in the industry and subsequent actions trucking companies may want to take to improve the quality of lives of truck drivers and road safety of their fleets.
