British boxing champion Martyn Bailey died as a result of sleep apnea that caused him to suffer from cardiac arrest per a recent inquest, as reported by the Daily Post.

Martyn Bailey, of Poyser Street, Wrexham, died despite efforts to save him by medics after he went to sleep following a nighttime work shift on February 19 this year.

His wife Dawn heard him snoring heavily but could not wake him up and an ambulance was called.

He was rushed to the nearby Wrexham Maelor Hospital a short time later, but was verified dead at 8.05am, aged just 39.

A post-mortem examination by pathologist Andrew Dalton found he had died of cardiac respiratory failure.

The inquest heard Mr Bailey had sleep apnoea which contributed to his death.
