The Pampa News reports that Pampa Regional Medical Center in Texas has introduced a sleep lab for the treatment and diagnosis of sleep disorders.

The staff at Pampa Regional Medical Center has been working diligently to expand the services provided at the hospital to save community members a drive to Amarillo and other areas for treatment.

One of PRMC’s latest expansions of services includes the sleep lab, which will be used for respiratory treatment.

Sleep is important for restoring function to our daily mental, emotional and physical well-being, and PRMC wanted to acknowledge that with the start of these sleep lab studies.

The hospital’s new sleep lab has been open for about a month now. The studies done in these labs monitor eye movement, muscle movement, EKG and oxygen saturations. Director of respiratory Chalenia Freeman said the sleep labs may also be used to monitor brain wave activity.
