A study finds that proactive prevention of insomnia may help to reduce pain and other rheumatologic problems in older adults, reports Pain Medicine News.

The majority of patients seeking treatment for pain report severe insomnia, according to researchers from the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre, Primary Care Sciences, Keele University, in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. They wrote that sleep deprivation could aggravate pain, with “worse health outcomes found in those with co-morbid insomnia.”
