The Advertiser reports that a man diagnosed with narcolepsy was sentenced in court after threatening his physician following a health assessment.

A NARCOLEPTIC who threatened to kill a doctor with a knife and scissors because he disagreed with his health assessment has received a suspended jail sentence.

Santosh Gutpa, 43, of Mansfield Park, had pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening life outside the Queen Elizabeth Hospital psychiatric clinic after disagreeing with a doctor’s assessment of his capacity to work in November, 2014.

In sentencing on Monday, District Court Judge Rosemary Davey said Gutpa, a father-of-two, had three serrated knives and a pair of scissors when he was arrested at the clinic.
