Texas’ largest school district announced Wednesday that it was creating uniform start and release times for the vast majority of its schools starting in the 2018-2019 school year—with 8:30 am start times for middle and high schoolers.

The Deer Park and Goose Creek ISDs both cited a growing body of research that shows students often perform better academically and display improved behavior when they have more time to sleep during the mornings.
