In Australia, some are asking for sleep apnea to be listed alongside epilepsy and diabetes as conditions that require a medical report before a driver’s license is issued, reports the Daily Telegraph.

They say drivers are not required to inform Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) they suffer from the disorder but can bring it up in court to fight driving charges.

The use of sleep apnoea as a defence is also frustrating police who investigate sleep-related accidents.
