DeVilbiss Healthcare, a manufacturer of sleep therapy devices, will move production lines from China to its Somerset, Pa, headquarters by the end of September 2013, creating an estimated 20 to 25 jobs within the company and additional jobs with local suppliers.

“In an effort to enhance and accelerate the continuous improvement program for our production processes, the decision was made to move all production lines back to the United States,” said Ed Murphy, DeVilbiss Healthcare president and CEO.

The move is the result of a 2007 decision to decrease production overhead and remain competitive in the US marketplace. The manufacturer received a $1.8 million USDA-backed loan from Somerset Trust Company to assist in necessary equipment costs.

“This show of support from a local lending institution and the USDA was instrumental in helping us bring badly needed jobs to [Pennsylvania],” Murphy added.
