Patients Needed for Rozerem Study

If you know patients aged 55 and older who have difficulty sleeping and have memory loss due to dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, you will want to know about a new study in the offing. Indiana University School of Medicine researchers will evaluate whether Rozerem (ramelteon) can reduce sleep problems in people with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. This is the first time Rozerem will be tested specifically in people with Alzheimer’s.

The research team is actively seeking study participants. Participation is about 10 weeks and volunteers and their caregivers will need to visit the IU Medical Center eight times and participants will be required to wear an actigraph on the wrist. To enroll in the study, volunteers should contact Julie Dickson at 317-278-4333.

Rozerem is marketed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America Inc, which is based in Lincolnshire, Ill.
