Anthony C. LaPlaca is the new Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Invacare Corp. The change took effect January 1, 2009, with LaPlaca replacing Dale C. LaPorte, who retired as of December 31, 2008.

LaPlaca takes his seat at Invacare after serving as VP and general counsel at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC for the past six and a half years.

“It is with mixed emotion that we acknowledge Dale LaPorte’s retirement after so many years of selfless, dedicated assistance to our company, both as an outside counsel and for the last 3 years as our Senior Vice President and General Counsel,” says A. Malachi Mixon III, chairman and CEO of Invacare.

LaPlaca will take responsibility for all legal affairs, risk management, and intellectual property matters, while also serving as the corporate secretary.
