American Sleep Association is preparing for its annual Sleep Apnea Awareness Week, an international campaign focused on increasing public awareness about the sleep disorder. The event occurs today through October 7, 2015.

Affiliates and members of the American Sleep Association (ASA) from multiple sites will participate in the event. ASA volunteer members in several US states and international locations will be available to the media. Affiliated sleep disorder treatment centers will discuss topics relating to sleep apnea. The ASA website will present important information on the signs, symptoms, risks, and treatment options of obstructive sleep apnea. ASA representatives state, “Patients with undiagnosed sleep apnea have an increased risk of stroke, heart attack, motor vehicle accidents, and deadly heart rhythms.”

The American Sleep Association (ASA) is a national organization committed to improving public awareness about sleep disorders and sleep health, promoting sleep medicine research, and providing a portal for communication between patients, physicians/healthcare professionals, corporations, and scientists. The ASA is a member-driven public service organization.
