The Forsyth Medical Center in North Carolina has expanded its sleep center, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
An expanded sleep center at Forsyth Medical Center not only has doubled the number of beds, but also enhanced the medical center’s ability to handle more patients with severe underlying health issues.
The main impetus for the expansion came from Novant Health Inc.’s acquisition of a Summit Sleep Disorder Center practice and bringing Dr. John Chewning on board.
The sleep center debuted in Medical Park Hospital in 2005, but has expanded and moved to Forsyth Medical Center. Both facilities are operated by Novant.
It now has eight beds dedicated in a wing, said Mike Crabb, the center’s director. There is the potential to expand to 10 beds.
