A donation will help the NHS wheelchair service in Hounslow provide an aid to help disabled individuals with posture problems improve sleep, as reported by Get West London.

People with mobility problems in Hounslow are heading for a better night’s sleep thanks to £165,000 funding awarded for new moulding mattresses.

Following a successful pilot study, the NHS wheelchair service in Hounslow will roll out the new aid to help disabled people with posture problems and those receiving end of life care, on Saturday (August 1).

The funds, which will be split with £77,000 awarded this year, and £88,000 next year, from the NHS Hounslow Clinical Commissioning Group, will be used towards providing tailored ‘sleep systems’ which create a moulded shape around the body to support the patient’s posture and prevent deformities while asleep.

The service will also change its name to Hounslow Wheelchair and Posture Management Service.
