In the UK, patients on insomnia medications should carry their prescriptions with them to reduce the risk of being prosecuted under a new drug-drive limit, reports The Daily Mail.

The Crime and Courts Act 2013 includes eight prescription drugs – covering conditions such as anxiety, insomnia, severe pain and epilepsy. The limits set for these exceed normal prescribed doses. However there will be a legal defence if a driver is found to be over the limit, but is not impaired.

Ministers say motorists across England and Wales taking medicines should also check with their doctor or pharmacist before getting behind the wheel.
