“We have been practicing sleep medicine for a long time — before sleep medicine became mainstream — so we have a tremendous amount of experience caring for patients with sleep disorders,” says Michael Weinstein, MD, Director of the Sleep Disorders Center and Program Director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Winthrop-University Hospital. “As interest in sleep medicine has grown in recent years, it has been recognized more and more as a specialty in its own right. We were pioneers in the field, especially on Long Island.”
