WaterMark Medical and SleepMed have merged under the SleepMed brand, according to a joint statement released by the companies.

Watermark Medical provides an automated end-to-end service for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep breathing disorders through a home sleep testing web-based portal, while SleepMed is the largest private sleep diagnostics provider and the largest ambulatory EEG provider in the nation with hundreds of hospital-based, physician-based, and freestanding sites. The combined companies performed more than 200,000 sleep studies over the past year.

According to a joint statement to customers, the companies chose to merge because of “The need for intelligent options for patient care that incorporate all appropriate diagnostic modalities.” The merger will allow SleepMed to expand services and products while improving patient health, the statement said.

“Together, we will offer the industry’s most comprehensive set of sleep services, integration tools, and patient wellness products focused on improving overall health through quality sleep,” Watermark Medical CEO Sean Heyniger and SleepMed president David Lewis said in a joint message to customers.

Investors and company shareholders have signaled their support for the merger, according to Heyniger and Lewis.
