Arthur C. Jee, DMD, was voted president-elect of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) during the Association’s 92nd Annual Meeting, Scientific Sessions and Exhibition in Chicago, on September 27–October 2, 2010.

Prior to his election, Jee served a 1-year term as the association’s vice president, and from 2005 to 2009, he served two terms on the AAOMS Board of Trustees as the District II trustee, representing the oral and maxillofacial surgeons of Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the US Air Force, Army, and Navy.

"Oral and maxillofacial surgeons occupy a unique and important niche in health care," said Jee following his election. "From third molar and dental implant surgery to the more complex orthognathic surgeries, trauma care, sleep apnea procedures, and oral cancer and reconstructive surgeries, OMSs are singularly qualified to perform a broad range of surgical procedures that improve the lives and save the faces of our patients. As the president-elect of the AAOMS, I look forward to furthering the goals of the Association and helping our fellows and members provide the full scope of OMS practice to their patients."

Jee is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and an AAOMS fellow. A delegate to the AAOMS House of Delegates for nearly 10 years prior to his terms as trustee, he was named 2004 Committee Person of the Year in recognition of his service on the AAOMS Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development, which plans and oversees implementation of all association professional continuing education programs.
